چکیده
Pseudomonas aeruginosa (P. aeruginosa) is ubiquitous in nature, and may be a causative agent severe, life-threatening infections. In >60% of cases, β-lactam antibiotics are used the therapy P. infections, therefore emergence carbapenem-resistant (CRPA) significant clinical concern. this study, phenotypic methods were to characterize fifty-four (n = 54) isolates, which included based on their suspected non-susceptibility meropenem. Minimum inhibitory concentrations (MICs) meropenem, ceftazidime, cefepime, ciprofloxacin, gentamicin, determined using E-tests, while colistin MICs broth microdilution. The isolates subjected modified Hodge test (MHT), carbapenem-inactivation method (mCIM) imipenem/EDTA combined disk (CDT). AmpC efflux pump overexpression was studied agar plates containing cloxacillin phenylalanine-arginine β-naphthylamide (PAβN), respectively. Assessment biofilm-formation carried out crystal violet tube-adherence method. 38.9% strains showed meropenem resistant range (>8 mg/L). Efflux-pump AmpC-hyperproduction seen 44.4% 35.2% 88.8% characterized as strong biofilm-producers. On other hand, presence carbapenemases minority (16.7%) tested isolates. As safe effective therapeutic options Gram-negative infections severely limited, characterization these molecular-based important provide insights into epidemiological features pathogens.

Epidemiological analysis of carbapenem-sensitive and -resistant Pseudomonas aeruginosa.
Pseudomonas aeruginosa with decreased levels of meropenem susceptibility were identified in the Royal Infirmary Edinburgh in 2002. Within the affected group of patients, none had meropenem-resistant P. aeruginosa when they arrived in the intensive care unit (ICU). Seven isolates from the ICU were collected five months after the decreased susceptibility to meropenem was identified. In order to i...
متن کاملDetection of Metallo-Beta Lactamases Among Carbapenem-Resistant Pseudomonas aeruginosa
BACKGROUND Carbapenems are important drugs used for the treatment of Pseudomonas aeruginosa infections, however metallo-β-lactamases (MBL) are able to efficiently hydrolyze these classes of drugs. Immediate detection of the MBL-producing P. aeruginosa is necessary in order to accurately treat infections caused by this organism. OBJECTIVES To determine the prevalence of MBL producing P. aerugi...
متن کاملCarbapenem and Fluoroquinolone Resistance in Multidrug Resistant Pseudomonas aeruginosa Isolates from Al-Zahra Hospital, Isfahan, Iran
Introduction: The major resistance mechanisms of Pseudomonas aeruginosa to fluoroquinolones and carbapenems are associated with the mutations in the genes gyrA and oprD encoding type II topoisomerases (DNA gyrase) and OprD porin, respectively. Method: In this cross-sectional study, sixty five clinical samples were collected from patients hospitalized in Al-Zahra Hospital of Isfahan, Iran. Susce...

conclusions epidemiological and regional evaluation of mbl-producing p. aeruginosa through simple and inexpensive methods should be considered for effective treatment of carbapenem-resistant p. aeruginosa infections. results amongst all the p. aeruginosa isolates, 58.7% were resistant to imipenem while 31.8%, 13.5% and 74.4% were resistant to meropenem, doripenem and ertapenem, respectively. am...
متن کاملRelationship of carbapenem restriction in 22 university teaching hospitals to carbapenem use and carbapenem-resistant Pseudomonas aeruginosa.
Many hospital antimicrobial stewardship programs restrict the availability of selected drugs by requiring prior approval. Carbapenems may be among the restricted drugs, but it is unclear if hospitals that restrict availability actually use fewer carbapenems than hospitals that do not restrict use. Nor is it clear if restriction is related to resistance. We evaluated the relationship between car...
